50 Faces, a photographic series which I developed during my residency period in Beijing during Spring 2012, will be part of the RAW CHINA EXPO at Raw Art Fair Rotterdam from 6th of February till 9th of March 2013!
About 50 Faces:
"For two and a half months, Hesper had fifty photo studios both take her business headshot as she posed in unvarying attire and digitally manipulate them into what the studios considered an “ideal” business headshot. At each photo studio, Hesper specifically told the employees that she wanted them to take a business headshot of her: she gave no further details. Thus, she effectively relegated to the studio employees the liberty of constructing the images.
As a result, the headshots differ dramatically from one another: some present red eye, and others soft skin; some a chilly plastic face, and others a bright smile." Text by Yuko Fujii
About Stichting Field of Dreams / RAW EXPO
Field of Dreams organizes RAW Art Fair again this year. As well as last year, the fair will include an extraordinary and spectacular RAW EXPO.
RAW EXPO will be open from Wednesday the 6th of February until Museum night on Saturday the 9th of March 2013. The second edition of RAW ART FAIR and RAW EXPO will be located in the monument warehouse Santos in the district of Katendrecht in Rotterdam. Katendrecht is traditionally the place where the first generation Chinese were established as laborimmigrants and embodies the stable relationship between Rotterdam and China. RAW CHINA EXPO choose to associate the exhibition with a theme this time, namely: China.
Piet de Jonge (former head-conservator of Kröller Müller Museum, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen and Van Abbemuseum) will be the curator exhibition. This year he will be supported by Benjamin Li and Beatrijs Dikker. Owner and curator of Canvas International Art, Martijn Kielstra, is appointed as the adviser of the exhibition.
